NSTS
NSTS is the National Sprayer Testing Scheme for the UK. NSTS tested sprayers are a requirement of many UK farm assurance schemes – also satisfying the the sprayer testing requirements of the the Sustainable Use Directive (SUD) which requires all pesticide application equipment to be tested by the relevant dates.
Visit the NSTS website where you can find out more about NSTS.
SPRAYER TESTING
Use NSTS for your agricultural and orchard sprayers to guarantee precise and legal spraying. All makes and models are covered by the extensive NSTS testing services provided by L Evans & Son (Hereford) Ltd.
A new legislation came into effect on 26th November 2020. This effects the period of time before your crop spraying equipment might need testing or re-testing. For more details see the Legislation page on the NSTS website. There is also a useful “decision tree” you can use to see when your equipment needs to be tested here.
Please note that it is recommended that sprayer equipment is checked on a regular basis (monthly at least) since drips and leaks can develop at anytime.
Legal requirements:
First test due before the machine is 5 years old
Boom sprayers over 3 metres and air blast sprayers. Re-test every 3 years
Booms 3 metres and under – Re-test every 6 years
Knapsack, handheld and pedestrian equipment must be checked on a regular basis by a competent person.
